How the checker works
1
Enter your domain
We detect your brand name and your market from your site.
2
We query the AI models
Your brand runs through a set of category prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, the same way a potential customer would ask.
3
You get your baseline
A report with your mentions, your position against competitors that did get named, and the sources the models cited.
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is how often and how prominently AI models such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention your brand when someone asks a question in your market. If a customer asks ChatGPT for the best accounting software and your product is not in the answer, you have an AI visibility problem, whatever your Google rankings say.
Search behavior has moved. A growing share of buying research now starts inside an AI assistant instead of a search results page. Those answers name three to five brands and leave everyone else out. Being left out is invisible to you unless you measure it.
What does the checker measure?
The free check answers three questions. Are you mentioned: whether your brand appears at all in AI answers to common questions in your category. Where do you rank: if models recommend a list of brands, we record your position in that list, and position one and position seven are very different outcomes. Who gets cited instead: the sources and competitors the models rely on for your market, which is usually the most confronting part of the report.
The full Trackbase platform extends this to 11 models, tracks it daily, adds sentiment, Share of Voice and source analysis, and turns the results into a prioritized action list.
How do I check if ChatGPT recommends my brand?
You can do a quick manual check yourself: open ChatGPT, ask the questions your customers would ask, and note whether your brand appears. Do this in a private window, since your own history biases the answers.
The manual route has two problems. Model answers vary between runs, so a single check can mislead you. And you cannot see trends. One check tells you where you stood at 14:03 on a Tuesday. Tracking tells you whether you are climbing. That is what this checker automates, and what the platform does every day.
Why is my brand not showing up in AI answers?
The usual reasons, in order of how often we see them in the data. One: the models have no third-party evidence for your brand. AI answers lean on review sites, comparison articles and community threads, and if those never mention you, the models have nothing to repeat. Two: your content does not answer the questions people ask. Models cite pages that directly answer a question with clear structure. Three: entity confusion, where the model mixes your brand up with a similarly named company and picks neither. Four: technical blockers, such as robots.txt rules that block AI crawlers or missing structured data.
The checker shows you which of these applies to you. Fixing them is a process of weeks to months, which is exactly why measuring first matters.
