What is AI Brand Accuracy?
AI brand accuracy is how factually correct AI assistants are when they describe your brand: your prices, products and features, locations, founders, availability and policies. An answer can praise you prominently and still get the facts wrong.
Brand accuracy sits next to two related ideas. AI brand sentiment is about tone: whether an assistant describes you positively, neutrally or negatively. An AI hallucination is one type of error, in which the model makes something up. Accuracy covers every factual error: claims that used to be true, such as last year's price, as well as claims the model faithfully repeats from a source that got it wrong.
Why AI Brand Accuracy matters
Buyers increasingly ask AI assistants about a company before they contact it. A wrong price can scare off a prospect or create false expectations. A feature the assistant says you lack can take you off a shortlist, and an outdated address sends people to the wrong place.
These errors happen outside your own channels, so you only notice them if you look for them. They also repeat: everyone who asks a similar question can get the same wrong answer, and an error in a widely used source can surface in several assistants at once. A mention built on wrong facts does little for you.
How to check and improve AI Brand Accuracy
Write down the facts that matter. List the prices, features, locations, people and policies buyers ask about, and keep that fact sheet current.
Test the questions buyers ask. Run prompts about pricing, features and comparisons in several AI assistants, check each answer against your fact sheet and count the errors per model.
Trace each error to its source. Check the cited sources next to the answer, then your own site: old pricing pages and press releases often still get read. Then check review sites, directories and marketplaces. If no source contains the claim, the model may be drawing on training data from before its knowledge cutoff, or making it up.
Correct it at the source. Update or redirect old pages, ask third parties to fix their listings and keep facts identical across your site, profiles and structured data.
Measure again. Answers based on web search can change once corrected pages are recrawled. Claims from training data may only change with a new model version.
Our guide on how to find and fix what AI gets wrong about your brand covers the full process. With Prompt Tracking, Trackbase runs your brand prompts every day across 11 AI models, so you can spot wrong claims and see whether corrections take hold.
Examples of AI Brand Accuracy
A chain of physiotherapy practices is still listed with a location it closed last year, because a healthcare directory shows the old address.
A Dutch bicycle webshop is said to ship only within the Netherlands, although it has delivered to Belgium and Germany for years. Its own shipping page never made that clear.
A software company's founder is still named as CEO in AI answers two years after stepping down, because most interviews and profiles predate the change.
A language school is described as classroom-only, although half its courses run online, because its course overview loads with JavaScript that many AI crawlers do not execute.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between AI brand accuracy and AI hallucination?
An AI hallucination is a claim the model invents without a real basis. AI brand accuracy is the broader measure of whether what AI says about your brand is correct. Many inaccuracies are not hallucinations: the model faithfully repeats an outdated page or a third-party error. The difference matters, because copied errors are fixed at the source, while invented claims call for clearer, more consistent facts.
How long does it take before AI assistants show corrected information?
It depends on where the answer comes from. Assistants that search the web can pick up a corrected page once it has been recrawled, which can take days or weeks. Claims that come from a model's training data usually change only when a new model version is released, which can take months. Track the same prompts over time to see when the correction takes hold.
Which facts about my brand should I check first?
Start with the facts that influence buying decisions, such as prices, core features, delivery areas, opening hours and return policies. Then check company details like founders, ownership and locations, because errors there undermine trust. Write the correct facts down in one fact sheet and test prompts that ask for each of them in several AI assistants.
