Your customers ask ChatGPT which product to buy. These tools tell you whether the answer includes you.

We build one of the platforms on this list, so read the Trackbase entry with that in mind. Everything else is based on public pricing, documentation and hands-on trials where available. Prices checked July 2026.

How we ranked these tools

Five criteria, weighted in this order:

  1. Model coverage. How many AI platforms the tool actually queries, and whether that includes Google AI Overview and Copilot, which most tools skip.

  2. Citation and source tracking. Whether you can see which URLs the models cite, since that is where the optimization work starts.

  3. Actionability. Whether the tool tells you what to do next or only shows you charts.

  4. Commerce coverage. Whether product-level tracking exists (ChatGPT Shopping), relevant for every webshop.

  5. Price for what you get. Entry price against feature depth.

Disclosure: Trackbase is our platform. We put it first because it is the only tool in this list that combines 11-model coverage, crawler analytics and ChatGPT Shopping tracking under €100 per month. Where competitors beat us, the entry says so.

1. Trackbase

Trackbase runs your prompt set against 11 AI models every day and turns the answers into a Visibility Score, Share of Voice, sentiment and a competitor ranking. The source view shows which sites the models cite in your market, so you know where your content and PR effort should go. An insights feed prioritizes actions with a predicted impact score.

Two things set it apart in this list. First, crawler analytics: a WordPress plugin and a Cloudflare integration record which AI bots visit your site server-side, so you see the crawl-to-citation pipeline end to end. Second, ChatGPT Shopping tracking: positions, prices and tags of your products in shopping carousels, which none of the other fourteen tools cover at this price.

  • AI models: 11, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Llama, Mistral

  • Pricing: from €79/month, 7-day free trial, no credit card

  • Best for: SMB and mid-market brands, webshops, agencies (white-label)

  • Watch outs: no social listening, and the platform is younger than Semrush or Ahrefs. Data is EU-hosted, which is a plus or a non-issue depending on where you sit.

2. Profound

Profound is the best-known enterprise platform in this category. Strong conversation-volume data, agent analytics and the brand recognition that comes with large customers. If you have an enterprise budget and a team to use it, it delivers.

  • Pricing: custom, generally reported in the hundreds of dollars per month and up

  • Best for: large brands and enterprises

  • Watch outs: pricing puts it out of reach for most SMBs. No product-level shopping tracking. See our detailed comparison in Trackbase vs Profound.

3. Peec AI

Peec built a clean, focused visibility tracker that marketing teams pick up quickly. Good competitor benchmarking and a straightforward interface.

  • Pricing: from around €90/month

  • Best for: marketing teams that want fast time to value

  • Watch outs: thinner on sources and technical diagnostics than the tools above it.

4. Otterly.ai

Otterly is the budget entry point of this market and gets cited in almost every roundup for that reason. Prompt tracking on the major models with simple reporting.

  • Pricing: from around $29/month

  • Best for: solo marketers and small teams starting out

  • Watch outs: limited depth once you need sentiment, sources or many prompts. Teams tend to outgrow it.

5. Scrunch AI

Scrunch positions itself for the mid-market and up, with an emphasis on how AI agents experience your site, not only how models answer.

  • Pricing: custom

  • Best for: mid-market teams thinking about agent readiness

  • Watch outs: pricing is opaque, and you will need the sales call.

6. Ahrefs Brand Radar

Brand Radar lives inside Ahrefs and leans on an enormous prompt dataset. If your team already pays for Ahrefs, turning it on is an easy decision.

  • Pricing: part of Ahrefs plans

  • Best for: existing Ahrefs users

  • Watch outs: it is an SEO suite module, not a dedicated AI visibility product. No shopping tracking, no crawler-level view.

7. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Semrush covers visibility, perception and narrative drivers, backed by a very large prompt database. The reporting is polished, as you would expect.

  • Pricing: add-on within Semrush One

  • Best for: existing Semrush customers

  • Watch outs: cost adds up on top of an existing subscription, and the AI toolkit is one module among many rather than the core product.

8. SE Ranking AI Visibility Tracker

SE Ranking added AI tracking to its rank tracker and offers a free daily check that made its tool page one of the most cited URLs in this category.

  • Pricing: add-on to SE Ranking plans

  • Best for: SEO teams already on SE Ranking

  • Watch outs: coverage is narrower than dedicated platforms, and the AI module follows the SEO product logic.

9. Nightwatch

Nightwatch combines classic SERP rank tracking with LLM monitoring in one tool, at a low entry price. A practical choice if you want to consolidate.

  • Pricing: from $32/month

  • Best for: teams that want SEO and AI tracking in one subscription

  • Watch outs: AI features are newer than the core rank tracker and it shows in places.

10. Rankability

Rankability pairs visibility tracking with content optimization workflows, aimed at agencies that execute for clients.

  • Best for: content-driven agencies

  • Watch outs: tracking depth trails the dedicated platforms; the strength is the workflow around it.

11. AthenaHQ

A focused GEO platform with solid fundamentals and a team that publishes a lot about the space.

  • Watch outs: custom pricing, smaller ecosystem.

12. Knowatoa

A freemium entry with basic model checks. Fine for a first look at the category.

  • Watch outs: you will hit the ceiling quickly with a real prompt set.

13. Rankscale.ai

GEO analysis with per-engine scoring. The free trial gives a decent feel for the category.

  • Watch outs: smaller model coverage and a thinner action layer.

14. Writesonic GEO

Bundled with the Writesonic content suite, which makes it attractive if you already write there.

  • Watch outs: tracking is secondary to the writing product.

15. Frase AI Tracking

Frase added AI citation tracking to its content optimization tool, from $39/month, with a free checker as the entry point.

  • Watch outs: engine coverage and refresh depth trail the dedicated tools.

Which tool should you pick?

Three questions settle it in practice:

  1. Do you sell products online? Then shopping-carousel tracking is not optional, and the list shrinks to one: Trackbase.

  2. Do you already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush? Turn their module on first. If you find yourself wanting sources, sentiment and daily granularity, come back for a dedicated platform.

  3. Is your budget above €500 per month with an enterprise team behind it? Then put Profound and Scrunch on the shortlist next to Trackbase and take the demos.

FAQ

What is an AI visibility tool?

Software that repeatedly asks AI models the questions your customers ask, records whether your brand appears in the answers, and reports mentions, positions, sentiment and cited sources over time.

Do I still need SEO tools if I track AI visibility?

Yes. Classic search still drives most traffic for most sites, and AI models lean on content that also does well in search. The two disciplines overlap but measure different outcomes.

How much do AI visibility tools cost?

Entry-level tools start around $29 to $39 per month. Mid-market platforms sit between €79 and €300. Enterprise platforms such as Profound are custom-priced, typically several hundred per month and up.

Which AI platforms should I monitor?

Start with ChatGPT, Google AI Overview and Gemini, since they carry the most usage. Add Perplexity, Copilot and Claude if your audience skews professional. Tracking 11 models costs the same effort as tracking three if the tool does the work.

How often should the data refresh?

Daily. AI answers change constantly, and weekly snapshots hide the movement you are trying to measure.

Can these tools improve my visibility, or only measure it?

Measurement is the core. The better platforms add recommendations. What actually moves your visibility is the work that follows: content that answers real questions, third-party mentions and reviews, and a technically accessible site.

Are free AI visibility checkers reliable?

They are fine as a first snapshot. One-off checks vary between runs, so treat any single result with caution and look for trends instead.

How long before visibility improves?

Plan for three to six months. Models refresh their sources at different speeds, and third-party content takes time to build. Anyone promising results in two weeks is selling something else.
